San Francisco (95.7 The Game) - The San Francisco 49ers had a pair of franchise legends up for their hall of fame inductions on Thursday, in Patrick Willis and Bryant Young.
While Willis will have to continue to wait for his induction to Canton, Young was given the nod alongside Tony Boselli, Cliff Branch, LeRoy Butler, Sam Mills, and Richard Seymour
Willis and Young, who were looking to become the 29th and 30th Hall of Famers in franchise history, both had impressive careers, with Willis a likely candidate to make the list sometime in the near future.
In just eight seasons with the 49ers, Willis made the Pro Bowl eight times, and was selected as a first-team all-pro five times, finishing his career with 950 total tackles, 50 tackles for loss, 41 quarterback hits and 20.5 sacks.
He was also named defensive rookie of the year in 2007, and was nominated for NFL defensive player of the year on two separate occasions, including his rookie season.
A four-time Pro Bowler and first-team all-pro selection in 1996, Young is widely considered one of the top defensive linemen in team history, alongside Justin Smith and Leo Nomellini.
Young also appeared in more games than any other defensive lineman in franchise history, sits fourth in NFL history among defensive tackles in sacks, and is third on the all-time franchise sack list.
Young finished his 14-year career with San Fransisco with 627 tackles, 93 tackles for loss, 89.5 sacks and 22 quarterback hits.
