Kayvon Thibodeaux roasted the 49ers on Twitter during their blowout loss to the Eagles on Sunday, tweeting that the “way this game look, we might be better than the 49ers,” with a few laughing emojis to cap it off.

At the time, San Francisco was down to its fifth string quarterback following injuries to Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson, while Philadelphia was being its usual menacing self on the defensive front while finding plenty of efficiency in the running game against a Niners defense that had been one of the best in the league against the run all season.

Joe Staley, a six-time Pro Bowler with the 49ers, took exception to Thibodeaux’s trolling, and fired back himself.

“You’re a flash player who gets bodied by average tackles,” Staley tweeted. “Don’t let the New York media affect you too much.”

Staley last played in 2019, when the Niners were able to win the NFC title game but lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. His appearance in the big game was apparently not enough for Thibodeaux to know who he was, as his response to Staley was, “who are you bro…”

He also added, “old people need to leave me alone.”

The Niners went on to lose 31-7, while Big Blue fell 38-7 a week prior.
