Heat considering Jimmy Butler trade, Butler open to Warriors
The Golden State Warriors have been searching for a star to pair with Stephen Curry, and there may just be one available.
After ESPN's Shams Charania reaffirmed last week that the Warriors are seriously searching for a star to pair with Curry, he revealed Tuesday that the Miami Heat may move on from Jimmy Butler.
“The Heat are open to listening to offers for Butler and making a deal if the proposal is right, league sources told ESPN," Charania wrote. "And Butler's agent, Bernie Lee, has indicated in league circles that Butler is open to destinations such as two of the Texas teams and the Golden State Warriors. Butler is a native of Houston, Texas. Above all, though, he is believed to prefer a win-now title contender in any trade.”
The report continues to say that Butler plans to opt out of his contract this offseason.
All that said, the Warriors would have a very hard time acquiring Butler and his $48.7 million cap hit. Golden State would likely have to include Andrew Wiggins and a number of other players to make salaries work.
