The 49ers have officially added quarterback Josh Johnson to the mix, signing the veteran to the team's practice squad as part of an array of Wednesday afternoon transactions.
Andrea Kramer has foreshadowed this move last week, reporting the impending signing in a Friday appearance on The Morning Roast.
Johnson, an Oakland native, who last played in the NFL in 2018 with Washington, has twice been a member of the 49ers practice squad, first in 2012 and then again in 2014.
Johnson is set to join a quarterback room that also includes Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard. Mullens started for the sidelined Jimmy Garoppolo in Thursday night's 34-17 thrashing at the hands of the Packers.
