Kyle Shanahan provides Jake Moody injury update

Jake Moody had a walking boot on his right foot in the 49ers' locker room Sunday afternoon, following the 24-23 disaster loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The 49ers' second-year kicker is going to spend at least a few weeks on the sideline.

Kyle Shanahan said Moody suffered a high ankle sprain when he made a tackle on Cardinals running back DeeJay Dallas on a kickoff return. Moody said he'd been in a similar situation in high school, injuring himself after making a tackle.

The 49ers will bring in kickers immediately, Shanahan said, with a rapid turnaround to a Thursday night matchup in Seattle against the Seahawks. Whoever they sign will likely be their kicker for "a few weeks."

San Francisco ended up a in a brutal situation without Moody, and ended up going for it on 4th-and-23 because they did not trust Mitch Wishnowsky from that distance. Shanahan said the 49ers were "trying to get it to the 15" so that it would be equivalent to an extra point. Wishnowsky made a 26-yard field goal to end the first half, and the 49ers failed to score again.
