49ers Injuries: Shanahan optimistic on 1 return

The 49ers get to stick around for an unseasonably hot day in Santa Clara this week, ahead of a matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. The injury list is quite long.

Kyle Shanahan provided updates on a number of players, with Fred Warner the main name of concern.

Shanahan said Monday that multiple players were day-to-day, and updated their statuses Wednesday:

Won't practice:
Fred Warner (ankle)
Jacob Cowing (shoulder)
Chris Conley (oblique)
George Kittle (ribs)
Yetur Gross-Matos (knee)

Limited:
Jordan Elliot (knee)
Talanoa Hufanga (ankle)
Flannigan-Fowles (calf)
Kevin Givens (tricep)

Shanahan also said that the heat, which reached at least 97 degrees in Santa Clara, and the upcoming Thursday night turnaround to Seattle, were factors in protecting players.

Returning to practice Wednesday was Kalia Davis, who had his practice return window opened. Shanahan was optimistic that he would make his return to the field Sunday.

Ricky Pearsall, meanwhile, remains out. Shanahan said that his shoulder injury was resolved before he went on the reserve/non-football injury list, but that the 49ers don't believe he's ready. He declined to go into much detail.

San Francisco also signed Jalen Graham off the Commanders' practice squad to their active roster, and made a few practice squad moves. They added defensive lineman Jonathan Garvin and wide receiver Terique Owens, and cut defensive tackle Shakel Brown.
