Kyle Shanahan gives final injury update before Week 6 vs. Falcons

Nick Bosa, the NFL’s co-leader with six sacks, will be a game-time decision for Sunday’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan announced the news during a press conference in West Virginia Friday morning, as the team has stayed in the Eastern time zone following its Week 5 drubbing of the Carolina Panthers. The Niners had a light session Friday and Bosa was officially listed as questionable with a groin injury.

“He looked good,” Shanahan said. “But everything is walk-through today too, so hopefully he would.”

Tight end Tyler Kroft (knee) and guard Aaron Banks (knee) are also listed as questionable, while defensive tackle Arik Armstead (foot/ankle) will miss his second straight game and defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw (knee) will miss his third consecutive contest.

Cornerback Jason Verrett experienced soreness this week in his right knee, which suffered a torn ACL last year. Verrett remains on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list and won’t be able to fill in for Emmanuel Moseley, who was lost for the season with a torn ACL in Week 5.

“(Verrett) just had some soreness,” Shanahan said. “Once he had some soreness, we wanted to settle it down and make sure that it was just soreness and nothing worse. So hopefully that'll leave over these next couple days, and we'll hit it up again on Wednesday next week.”

Shanahan has been impressed with Deommodore Lenoir this year out of the slot, but he could be a candidate to move outside, as second-year corner Ambry Thomas has slipped down the depth chart. Fifth-round pick Samuel Womack, who had an impressive preseason, could be the primary nickel back.

Kicker Robbie Gould (knee contusion) is expected to play after getting knocked out of last week’s game making a tackle on a return.

Safety Jimmie Ward (broken hand) and tackle Trent Williams (high ankle sprain) are out.

Star Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts (hamstring) is listed as questionable after missing last week and being limited in practice this week.
