National pundits are starting to take notice of what Brock Purdy is doing and his name is starting to come up in the early MVP discussion.
NBC Sports and Audacy NFL Insider Peter King joined Willard and Dibs on Tuesday and made his case for Purdy after five games.
“If the season ended today, the 49ers are the best team in football, he leads the NFL in passer rating by a lot, he’s 27 points ahead of Patrick Mahomes He’s got a nine to zero touchdown to interception margin. He’s got the second highest yards per attempt (9.3), which among common metrics is one coaches really value. If you can't see it, you probably aren't looking."
As far as King's MVP vote after five games, "I certainly would vote for him. He’s the leading quarterback in the NFL, playing for the best team in the NFL. It’s hard to imagine that he wouldn’t win it.”
