The Jets continued to make moves on Wednesday, signing veteran running back Tevin Coleman after locking up defensive end Vinny Curry.

Coleman has previous experience with Jets head coach Robert Saleh from their days with the 49ers, and will be within a familiar system. The deal is for one year and $2 million, according to Adam Schefter.

New York’s backfield is one in transition after letting go of Le’Veon Bell last year, with veteran Frak Gore getting extended snaps. Coleman will bring a sense of familiarity beyond Saleh, as offensive coordinator Mike Lafleur is a previous assistant of Kyle Shanahan, who was the Falcons offensive coordinator during Coleman’s days in Atlanta.

Coleman, 27, was injured against the Jets in Week 2 this past season, and finished the year with just 53 rushing yards after collecting 544 the year before. Injuries held back Coleman in that season as well, suffering an ankle sprain and a shoulder injury.

Coleman joins a backfield that includes La’Mical Perine, Ty Johnson and Josh Adams.
