On the eve of the NFL trade deadline, the 49ers are shipping out Kwon Alexander.

The 49ers made the move official late in the afternoon, via a press release.

“Kwon’s time with our team might not have been long but it was very impactful,” general manager John Lynch said in a statement.

“A tremendous teammate, his non-stop motor, ferocious play and selfless nature helped establish a standard for our locker room that will carry on. On behalf of the entire organization, I want to wish Kwon all the best and thank him for all of his contributions to our team.”

Alexander, who missed three games this season with an ankle injury, had originally joined the club on a four-year, $54 million deal heading into the 2019 season. The linebacker missed eight games last season with a torn pec before returning amid the 49ers' playoff run to the Super Bowl.

Alexander had a sack and a forced fumbled in his five games with the 49ers this season.

A couple of 49ers shared what appear to be their own feelings on the move, via their Twitter accounts:
