The New Orleans Saints have not ruled out a Jameis Winston return at quarterback, but that has not stopped the rumor mill from swirling.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the potential pairing of Jimmy Garoppolo and the Saints was the “wildest rumor” he had heard at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis last week.

Garoppolo could become the Saints top option if they cannot re-sign Winston or top tier quarterbacks such as Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson are not available, per Fowler.
Saints GM Mickey Loomis addressed the void at quarterback during the Combine, admitting that it would be difficult to find a franchise quarterback in the draft, particularly with the No. 18 pick and a much weaker QB class than years past.
Loomis confirmed that Winston, who played in seven games last year and was impressive before tearing his ACL, remained an option for New Orleans in free agency.
Garoppolo, meanwhile, could become one of the hotter names available on the QB market if Rodgers and Wilson stay put.
The 49ers seem likely to move on from the 30-year-old quarterback, although recent news of shoulder surgery for Garoppolo could complicate things and bring down his value on the market.
