(SportsRadio 610) - The Texans are ready to trade quarterback Deshaun Watson to the highest bidder for which he's willing to waive his no-trade clause.
Anywhere but one of these other AFC South teams.
Houston declined the Indianapolis Colts' attempt to speak with Watson, as they have granted permission to the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday.
Meanwhile, the Panthers and Saints were scheduled to meet with Watson in Houston on Monday evening, as Pro Football Network's Aaron Wilson first reported. Other teams are expected to be in the mix throughout the coming days, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports and USA Today reported.
The Colts are scrambling at quarterback after the failed one-year experiment with Carson Wentz, who they traded last week to the Washington Commanders. Perhaps this will make 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo more attractive to the Colts, even though he's recovering from shoulder surgery.
For Indianapolis, the last three seasons since Andrew Luck abruptly retired have seen a revolving door at quarterback, from Jacoby Brissett in 2019, to Philip Rivers in 2020 before he retired, and Wentz in 2021.
If the Colts are to solve their quarterback issues, it won't be because the Texans helped them do it by gift-wrapping a 26-year-old franchise player.
