Nick Bosa nearly doubled his snap count on Sunday, playing in 63 snaps against the Rams after being held to 35 plays against the Steelers in the season opener. Still, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year is seeking his first sack after piling up 18.5 quarterback takedowns last season.
On Monday’s edition of 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs” hosts Mark Willard and Dan Dibley reacted to Bosa’s postgame comments, when he admitted he's still getting up to speed after his lengthy training camp holdout for a new contract.
“I’m not too concerned about it,” Bosa said. “I feel good. I needed a couple of games to get my body into football shape, for sure. You can't simulate it. Now that I’ve been through two (games) and had some pretty good output for this one, I’m only gonna be up from here.”
Dibs thinks the DPOY is due for a huge game on Thursday night against the Giants.
“I’m saying two sacks on Thursday night.” Dibley said. “I’m gonna put the over/under at 1.5 sacks – he’ll get two.”
Bosa missed six weeks worth of practice with his teammates and said he’s still working on some of his moves, but remains an elite difference-maker on defense, according to Pro Football Focus.
“Here would be my contention – I don’t think Nick’s been perfect, I don’t know that Nick’s been dominant,” WiIllard said. “I do think Nick has been better than people realize because he hasn’t gotten a sack but he has still been very effective rushing the passer.”
