Buster Posey is at the helm of the Giants franchise. And his first order of business is finding a general manager. Posey said in his introductory press conference that Giants GM Pete Putila was relieved of his duties and that the organization would look for another way to utilize him.
But Putila is out. So what does Posey want in a fresh GM?
He said that a candidate with a scouting background is his preference. He expanded on that answer to NBC Sports Bay Area.
"I think somebody with a scouting background will be important to me," he told NBC Sports Bay Area. "I think someone that is relatable, someone that can not only empower the players or agents that they may come in contact with, but also can relate to the guys or girls on our coaching staff, our medical staff, our strength staff. Because all of those people matter so much for us to accomplish our ultimate goal."
Posey highlighted a number of people within the organization, including senior vice president and assistant general manager Jeremy Shelley. Posey said he'd be "a huge resource for me."
