It’s Sept. 13 and we STILL don’t know what to make of the 2023 Giants.

Just about three weeks remain in the regular season and the team woke up Wednesday 1.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot in the National League, following Tuesday’s 3-1 loss to the Cleveland Guardians to snap a four-game win streak.

Longtime Giants broadcaster Dave Flemming joined 95.7 The Game’s “The Morning Roast” Wednesday and discussed the wishy-washy nature of this season.

“It has been a back and forth all year,” Flemming told hosts Bonta Hill and Joe Shasky. “When they prioritize defense the offense has often suffered... I think they've chased offense lately and that's hurt the defense."

So, what’s the biggest problem holding the team back this year? The Giants are known to micromanage situations and roles – whether it be using openers, piggyback starters or platoons – and Flemming thinks that might be an issue in the clubhouse.

“Some of these starters who haven't been used in the traditional roles have expressed more dissatisfaction about that as the years going on,” Flemming said.
