The Warriors and the Giants are practically neighbors.
Chase Center is just a couple of Muni stops away from Oracle Park and on Tuesday night, a couple of Dubs took advantage of the downtime this week to watch the Giants host the Padres. Warriors guards Jordan Poole and Gary Payton II were spotted in the crowd at Oracle.
The Warriors still have some time off before Saturday’s 5:30 p.m. PT tip-off against the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA’s Western Conference finals. You can hear the playoff action on 95.7 The Game.
Soon, Poole and Payton will be busy trying to steal and score their way to the second round of the NBA playoffs. Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Steph Curry is expected to scrimmage with Golden State on Thursday, so that'll be a big day for the franchise. For now, the guards were able to chill and watch some baseball.
Poole and Payton picked a great game to see, as the Giants exploded for double-digit runs for the first time all year. Alyssa Nakken also made MLB history as the first woman to coach on the field during and MLB game.
The Giants and Warriors have been connected throughout the years. The Splash Brothers Steph Curry and Klay Thompson have also watched Giants games at Oracle Park, while Klay has taken to wearing a Brandon Belt captain hat while driving his beloved boat on the Bay.
Last week, after making an epic Opening Day entrance on a boat, ‘The Captain’ Belt joked about Thompson stealing his style.
“Each sport can have their own captain,” Belt said. “That’s totally fine. I just happen to be the captain of baseball.”
