DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - In search of their next manager, the Texas Rangers met with former San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy on Thursday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported on Friday.
Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News confirmed the report but couldn't say if the meeting between Rangers general manager Chris Young and Bochy "qualifies as an interview or a feeling out process."

The Rangers are keen on bringing in a manager this offseason with a playoff pedigree, and Bochy certainly checks that box as the 67 year old helped guide the Giants to three World Series championships in his 13 years as the manager in San Francisco. He also managed the San Diego Padres from 1995-2006, where he won four NL West titles and one NL pennant.
“I loved playing for [Bochy],” Young said last week when asked about the club's interest in hiring him. “He was a tremendous manager. I learned a lot from him. He’s just a calm, steady presence. I have the utmost respect for him. He’s a tremendous person and manager.”
Young and Bochy have strong ties dating back to their time together with the Padres in 2006 when Young pitched for the veteran manager.
It's unknown if Bochy, who retired in 2019, has an interest in returning to managing.
Tony Beasley, who took over for Chris Woodward after he was fired in the middle of the club's fourth-straight losing season, is the only candidate to have officially interviewed for the job.
