DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - One of the most decorated managers in MLB history is now the manager of the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers announced on Friday that they hired three-time World Series champion Bruce Bochy to a three-year contract to be their next manager.
"On behalf of the entire organization, I want to welcome Bruce and Kim Bochy to the Texas Rangers," Rangers GM Chris Young said in a statement. "In his 25 years with San Diego and San Francisco, Bruce was one of the most successful and respected managers in Major League Baseball. With a calm and steady presence, he has a remarkable ability to connect and communicate with players coaches and staff, and his teams have always played with the maximum effort. His knowledge of the game as well as his integrity is unmatched."
The Rangers were keen on bringing in a manager this offseason with a playoff pedigree, and Bochy certainly checks that box as the 67 year old helped guide the Giants to three championships in his 13 years as the manager in San Francisco.
He also managed the San Diego Padres from 1995-2006, where he won four NL West titles and one NL pennant.
Young and Bochy have strong ties dating back to their time together with the Padres in 2006 when Young pitched for the veteran manager. And while Bochy has been retired for the last three years, he felt like this was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
“I am incredibly excited to be joining the Texas Rangers,” Bochy said in a statement. “Over the last several days, I’ve had extensive conversations with Chris Young and other individuals in the organization, and I had the chance to meet with Ray Davis. Their vision and commitment to putting together a club that can contend and win year in and year out is impressive, and I became convinced I wanted to be a part of that.
“If I was going to return to managing, it had to be the right situation. I strongly believe that to be the case with the Rangers, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Tony Beasley, who took over for Chris Woodward after he was fired in the middle of what ended up being the club's fourth-straight losing season, was the only other candidate known to have officially interviewed for the job. It's unknown what his future will be with the club with Bochy coming on board.
The Rangers will hold a press conference at Globe Life Field on Monday to introduce their new manager.
