The Yankees have reportedly made their next big free agent splash, this time bolstering the starting rotation.
According to Jon Heyman, the Yanks and Carlos Rodón have agreed to a deal, after the two sides were reportedly far apart earlier this week. Per Heyman, the deal is for six years and $162 million, with a full no-trade clause.
Rodón had reportedly been seeking a seven-year deal for roughly $200 million, but seems to have settled on less to join a team he reportedly preferred to sign with this offseason.
An All-Star each of the last two seasons, Rodón pitched to a 2.88 ERA with the Giants last season while posting elite strikeout stuff, fanning 237 batters in 178 innings of work. Rodón has had injury struggles in the past, but the 30-year-old has pitched over 130 innings in each of the past two seasons.
