The 2021 NCAA women’s basketball champion Stanford Cardinal enjoyed a rousing welcome home and parade through campus on Monday following their thrilling 54-53 win over Arizona in Sunday's title game.
The coronavirus-friendly parade kicked off outside Stanford's Maples Pavilion, with Palo Alto Fire Department trucks and Palo Alto Police officers leading the way. Several Cardinal players and coaches were driven under two huge, red Stanford flags in shiny cars waving at excited fans along the route.
Of course, they had their new hardware in tow.

One of the fans at Monday's parade was Dave Rathbun.
"This is something for my daughter to experience," he told KCBS Radio. "It's been 29 years. I'm local. They've always been at the top and it's great that they're at the very top...girl power. That's what it's all about."
His daughter, eight-year-old GiGi, held a foam finger.
The route of the parade looped around Campus Dr. before ending at Larsen St. That’s where the general public was allowed to come to see the players, with organizers saying they needed to stay in their cars so as not to encourage any gathering and keep social distancing measures in place.
The team spent 10 weeks on the road this season because of the coronavirus pandemic. It was Stanford's first national championship since 1992.
