A group of NBA All-Stars will try to lead Team USA basketball to its fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal at the upcoming Games in Tokyo.
While no official word has been issued on the composition of the roster yet, there are now 12 players who have been reported or confirmed to be suiting up for Team USA, according to multiple reports.
A handful of household names with international experience were reported to have declined invitations to rest or rehab injuries -- among them LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Chris Paul, Donovan Mitchell and James Harden. However, there's no shortage of star power here.
Here's a look:
- Bam Adebayo, center, Miami Heat
- Bradley Beal, guard, Washington Wizards
- Devin Booker, guard, Phoenix Suns
- Kevin Durant, forward, Brooklyn Nets
- Jerami Grant, forward, Detroit Pistons
- Draymond Green, center, Golden State Warriors
- Jrue Holiday, guard, Milwaukee Bucks
- Zach LaVine, guard, Chicago Bulls
- Damian Lillard, guard, Portland Trail Blazers
- Kevin Love, center, Cleveland Cavaliers
- Khris Middleton, forward, Milwaukee Bucks
- Jayson Tatum, forward, Boston Celtics
All of Adebayo, Beal, Booker, Grant, Holiday, LaVine, Lillard, Middleton and Tatum will be making their Olympic debuts. Grant is the only player on the team without an All-Star nod, though he easily could have last season.
The only returning veterans of past Games are Durant, Green and Love. Green won gold in Rio in 2016, while Love won gold in London in 2012. Durant was on both teams.
Team USA has won gold in three consecutive Olympics, beginning in Beijing in 2008, after capturing bronze in Athens in 2004.
