HOUSTON (SportsRadio 610) -- Texans wide receiver Will Fuller says he's no longer bothered by the sports hernia surgery to repair his groin injuries from the offseason.
Some of what he focused on to make sure he can stay healthy through a 16-game season is his mechanics and posture.
It's the little things that can go a long way if he stays on top of it this season, Fuller said.
Texans coaches and players are expecting Fuller to have a big season in his fifth year, with DeAndre Hopkins traded to the Arizona Cardinals and Fuller possibly approaching free agency if he's not hit with the franchise tag.
Fuller, the Texans' first-round pick in 2016, said he's not worried about the contract, and that his play will dictate how he gets paid.
But so will his health. Fuller played in 14 games his rookie year in 2016, but hasn't played in more than 11 games in a season since then.
Last season, Fuller played in 11 games but was held back with groin and hamstring injuries.
Fuller said he's dealt with bad posture for a long time.
"Just standing up -- not even moving, but just standing -- my lower back would always tighten up or bother me," Fuller said. "I walk with my back extended, so just trying to get that to a normal posture could fix a lot of lower extremity injuries that I've been dealing with."
The Texans exercised Fuller's fifth-year option, paying him $10.162 million.
Earlier this year, while working out with Fuller, Hopkins predicted his former teammate would make his first Pro Bowl this season.
Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has said he expects Fuller to "ball out" and be one of the best receivers in the NFL.
In just 22 regular season games played with Watson, Fuller has 94 catches for 1,452 yards and 14 touchdowns.
What seems certain is that Fuller's injury history hasn't shot his confidence.
"Being injured sucks, but I'm confident," Fuller said. "Every time I go back on the field, I don't think about what happened last week, or if I was injured last week. I always feel like I'm going to have a big game, or whatever. I don't really dwell on injuries. I know they happen, but I always stay confident and try to just do my best to help the team win."
