“The Princess Diaries” is celebrating a milestone anniversary.
Celebrations were underway as the classic Disney film turned 20 on Thursday.
Cast members took to social media to share fond memories of their time on set.
Mandy Moore, who played mean girl Lana Thomas, shared several throwback photos.
"Wowww talk about a #ThrowbackThursday!😳. Happy 20th birthday to #ThePrincessDiaries 👑 and a real bop 🎤…#StupidCupid! 🎉,” the “This Is Us” actress wrote.
Moore’s “This Is Us” co-star, Eris Baker, who plays Tess Pearson, revealed she's a huge fan of the film commenting, “THE POST I NEEDED TODAY. THIS IS AMAZING."
Leading lady Anne Hathaway, who played Mia Thermopolis Renaldi Princess of Genovia, shared a series of photos, writing: “Miracles happen… Happy 20th Birthday to #theprincessdiaries, AKA the film that launched a thousand sleep overs 👑”
She then followed up with an image of herself in a ball gown eating chips to point out that “The Princess Diaries” turned 20 “the same year" that “The Devil Wears Prada” turns 15.
“Shut up! That’s all,” she added.
Heather Matarazzo, who played Mia’s best friend Lilly Moscovitz, also shared several snaps of her on set with the cast and crew.
“20 Years ago I had a life/heart/soul changing experience- I got to work with and befriend an incredible group of people on a film called #theprincessdiaries Little did I know just how much it would resonate with audiences,” she began.
“Children who grew up with this film now are adults and are sharing it with their children!! There is no better feeling as an actor than knowing your work has inspired others,” she added.
Other celebrities were also feeling the nostalgia including “West Side Story’s” Rachel Zegler, who called the teen movie “the most formative experience of my childhood.”
"Forever our Princess of Genovia 🥺🤩💛," the official Disney+ account commented on Hathaway's post.
“The Princess Diaries” premiered in 2001. The sequel “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" followed in 2004.
In 2019, Hathaway appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” with Andy Cohen and confirmed that a script for a third installment of a series has been written.
She added that most of the cast – including Julie Andrews as Queen Clarisse – is on-board to return to “Genovia, the land I call my home.”
While talks of a third movie have stalled, if there’s anything we’ve learned from the movie is that “miracles happen once in a while if you believe.”
