Narrowed down to 5 nominees from 15 possible contenders, here is who will be competing at this year’s Academy Awards for Best Original Song.
Already having won The Golden Globe for the same category, Billie Eilish and Finneas’ “What Was I Made For?” is just one of two Barbie movie songs that made the list. The other being “I’m Just Ken,” written by nominees Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt and performed by Ryan Gosling, which won Best Song at the Critics Choice Awards.
Also nominated, Flamin’ Hot’s “The Fire Inside,” written by Diane Warren and performed by Becky G, American Symphony’s “It Never Went Away” written by Jon Batiste and Semisonic’s Dan Wilson, performed by Batiste, and “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)” from Killers of the Flower Moon, written by Scott George and performed by the Osage Tribal Singers.
The 96th Academy Awards will take place on March 10, during which, as always, all Best Song nominees will perform during the ceremony. See the full list of nominees below.
