DALLAS (SportsRadio 610) -- Texans defensive lineman Charles Omenihu was active in the first half against the Cowboys on Saturday night.
The third-year veteran out of Texas had two sacks and a fumble recovery, consistent with the renewed focus on turnovers and flying toward the ball.
Omenihu's fumble recovery came on a strip sack by defensive end Jacob Martin on the Cowboys' first possession of the game.
It was 3rd and 7 with Dallas at its own 28-yard line when Martin came from behind Garrett Gilbert in the pocket to hit him and knock the ball away, with Omenihu on the recovery.
The Texans were able to capitalize with a short field behind a Mark Ingram touchdown run.
Omenihu sacked Cooper Rush with less than two minutes to go in the first quarter, dropping him for three yards on 2nd and 6.
He sacked him again in the second quarter for a loss of eight yards.
For his efforts, Omenihu got the first game ball of his three-year NFL career, playing in his hometown just one day after his 24th birthday.
"We've got guys who are flying around and guys who have bought into the technique they want us to play, how they want us to play and that's all," Omenihu said after the Texans forced four turnovers in the 20-14 win against the Cowboys. "As coaches all they can ask for is having guys bought in and 11 guys who are going to buy into the system and run to the ball and if tyou get a chance to get to the quarterback you punch the ball out whatever the case might be."
