John, who recently confirmed his retirement from the road, updated fans about his health via social media, explaining how over the summer he had been dealing with the infection that ultimately left him “with only limited vision in one eye.”

Ever the optimist, Elton reassured fans saying he’s “feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far... I am healing.” Although he admits, “it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,” he adds, “I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks.”

Elton recently spoke about having no regrets after deciding to retire after his final 2023 concert -- but also revealed that he's got plenty of projects in the planning stages. For those hoping to see him perform, a fully produced tour seems to be out of the question, however, “one-off” performances could be possible he told fans. “But that’s miles away. I want to appreciate my family, my sons, my husband, everything."
