Margot Robbie is starring in the titular role for “Barbie” but the dolls weren’t always part of her life.

Robbie told PEOPLE she wasn’t too keen on playing with Barbie as a youth in Australia.

"I didn't personally have any that I can recall," Robbie said. "My sister did and I remember my cousin did. I would play with my cousin's, but I wasn't actually that much of a Barbie girl as a kid."

The “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” star said she was more into playing around outside.

“I was more of a roll-around-in-the-mud kind of gal,” she told the publication.

She also said when she got her hands on a Barbie, they were “weird.”

“I think they were all so janky because they were not well cared for. They were all weird Barbies,” she said.

Robbie also explained how acting and producing “Barbie” has given her a certain respect for the iconic toy.

“The idea that I’m enough. Barbie can be anything and everything, but even if you’re just making it through life, you’re crushing it. I found that very therapeutic,” she said.

“Barbie” is directed by Greta Gerwig and hits theaters July 21.
