(670 The Score) The Bears have expressed interest in trading for Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, but that's a move that wouldn't make sense in the mind of Hall of Fame receiver and NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin.
Irvin believes the Bears should first stay the course in attempting to trade for Texans star quarterback Deshaun Watson before turning their attention to a potential deal for Wentz.
"Why would you put your bear paws on Carson Wentz when Deshaun Watson is talking about being out there?" Irvin said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Friday morning. "You know what I'm saying? You want something solidified, not something you'll be possibly back in that question. Now I know Carson Wentz, the physical skill set and talent. But that's shoulders down. What is he like shoulders up with what he's gone through now in Philly?
"Chicago is not an easy place. Chicago is not an easy place. They'll get on you there too. Indy might be a better place for him because it's an easier place to deal with from a fan standpoint.
"You blew it one time when you took (Mitchell) Trubisky over Watson. If you get another chance, don't mess it up again. You got to try to get Watson."
The Bears are searching for a quarterback once again after going 8-8 in the regular season in 2020 and bowing out of the playoffs in the wild-card round. The No. 2 overall pick in 2017, Trubisky is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the Bears last spring declined his fifth-year option for 2021.
