Locker: Texans beating Titans could be costly for No. 1 overall draft pick

(SportsRadio 610) - The losing streak is over and the Texans finally have another mark in the win column.

It may feel great in the moment for the team and some fans, but is it truly a good thing for their long term future?

These are some observations from the game:

1. Brandin Cooks being active for this game felt like disingenuous fake hustle and very unnecessary.

2. O.J. Howard started off his Texans tenure with two touchdowns in his debut and slowly dwindled away. The tight end position should be a major point of emphasis this off-season. I feel like I’ve said this before.

3. I know there are clear personnel limitations, but with Malik Willis at QB there was little excuse to at the very least contain Henry, which the Texans did compared to recent performances.

4. Davis Mills should’ve thrown one of the more costly interceptions a QB could throw, but fortunately for him former Texans LB Zach Cunningham dropped the INT.

On the next play Mills fumbled into the end zone into the arms of Rex Burkhead. Sloppy play resulted in a Texans TD, which made you feel like maybe it was the Texans day.

5. I watched this game wondering who the Titans QB is going to be next year.

Side note: I watch every Texans game wondering who the starting QB will be next season.

6. The Texans decision to settle for a field goal inside the five-yard-line in the fourth quarter is a decision most younger coaches wouldn’t make. With that said, I don’t hate it given how the game felt at that point and how awful the Titans offense is with Willis at QB.

7. Mills made some really big-time throws on the go-ahead drive in the fourth. The consecutive tosses to Phillip Dorsett and Amari Rodgers capped off by the TD pass to Cooks was the best stretch of the season for him.

8. Christian Harris is going to make a lot of plays for this team for a long time.

9. This win was more about the Tennessee dumpster fire than anything.

10. This win could also be beyond costly.
