The Texans are trading for offensive tackle Marcus Cannon from the New England Patriots in a deal which includes pick swaps, according NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Cannon, a three-time Super Bowl champion and second-team All-Pro in 2016, opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Odessa, Texas native has started in 69 of the 115 games he's played from 2011 to 2019. The Patriots drafted Cannon in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

The move is interesting considering the Texans already have established starting tackles in Laremy Tunsil and Tytus Howard. They also drafted Charlie Heck in the fourth round of last year's draft.

Notably, this is a trade between Bill Belichick and former Patriots executive Nick Caserio, who spent 20 years work with Belichick.
