Tom Selleck had nothing but the nicest things to say about his time working with Matthew Perry on “Friends.”

Speaking with USA Today, Selleck commented on the immense talent of the late Perry while filming during the hit sitcom’s second season in an episode where the two were doing a role reversal. Selleck said he was having a hard time nailing a certain line.

"Matthew had this speech pattern that I hadn't been aware of," Selleck said. "Matt told me, 'It's a joke, Tom.' It's the way he says it. But during that whole show, I kept going up to him asking, 'Can you say it again?' and he'd do the line. That was his signature."

“He was raw talent. Matthew’s gone, so it’s easy to say this, but it’s true. I think he was the most talented of a very talented group of people,” Selleck added.

The “Magnum P.I.” actor also commented on how close the cast of “Friends” was during his time on the show.

“There are no bad stories,” he said. “They all just got along. I think it’s because all these actors had failures on other shows. And they’re in this hit. They all realized how lucky they were.”

Perry passed unexpectedly in Oct. 2023 from the acute effects of ketamine and drowning. He was 54.
