ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Former pitcher Edwin Jackson holds the current record for most Major League Baseball teams to play for: 14. So if there's any one player who'd be able to accurately rank some of the league's best fans, food, ballparks and cities, it's probably him.
Jackson spent half of the 2011 season and won the World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals, and he gave them a lot of praise when he spoke to MLB.com about some of the "bests" in baseball.
He said that St. Louis has the best fans, best sandwiches and it's the friendliest MLB city he's lived in.
"The only place that I've never heard a person get booed, except for A.J. Pierzynski, is St. Louis," Jackson told MLB.com. "They kinda cheer for everybody, and that's something you don't see anywhere."
Jackson also said St. Louis' pulled-pork sandwich was the best he's ever had.
He lived in 13 different MLB cities and played for 14 teams durign his 19-season career. In 2019, he broke Octavio Dotel's record for most teams played for. Those cities are: Los Angeles; Tampa Bay; Detroit; Phoenix; Chicago; St. Louis; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta; Miami; San Diego; Baltimore; Oakland; and Toronto.
