Bill Cosby has been released from prison, based on a technicality. In spite of admitting to and being found guilty of his crimes, his former longtime co-star and friend, Phylicia Rashad expressed her joy in Cosby gaining his freedom.

Rashad tweeted, "FINALLY!!!! A terrible wrong is being righted- a miscarriage of justice is corrected!" Immediately, survivors of sexual assault and countless allies expressed their outrage with phrases like "Bye Phylicia" and even demanded her position as Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Howard University be terminated.
Hours later, Rashad doubled down on her initial sentiment stating, "I fully support survivors of sexual assault coming forward. My post was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth. Personally, I know from friends and family that such abuse has lifelong residual effects. My heartfelt wish is for healing."
Fellow former Black sitcom matriarch, Janet Hubert had the perfect response to Rashad's message. Hubert wrote, "Phylicia what are you thinking!!! I don't know you but to say this was terribly wrong. EVERYONE knew what he was doing back then. How could you NOT! Get your umbrella sista here comes the s*** shower. I am outraged that he has been released. Yes he is an old a** guilty man!"
Hubert continued, "I would have said he's old he's out and I'm happy for him, but he still... guilty. I know 5 women who have not come forward. Enough Ya'll we know better. Powerful men do wrong things, black or white..." And that's that on that. Believe women.
Rashad has not yet responded to Hubert's message, but Howard University wrote in a statement that Rashad's tweet "lacked sensitivity" and "personal positions of University leadership do not reflect Howard University's policies."
