The “Satan Shoes” made waves as Lil Nas X and MSCHF modified Nike Air Max 97s in an appropriate limited edition run of 666 pairs. Each pair features 60cc ink and a drop of human blood. Almost immediately, Twitter was sent into a frenzy as some users slammed Lil Nas X over the shoes.

The “Old Town Road” singer addressed the backlash he received over the shoes telling his critics he’s not going to “cater to your children.”

After one user claimed “the system is targeting kids” and that Lil Nas X’s fanbase is mostly children, Lil Nas X responded by saying “there was no system involved.”

“I made the decision to create the music video. I am an adult. I am not gonna spend my career trying to cater to your children. That is your job,” he tweeted.

Joyner Lucas wrote in a now-deleted tweet, "I think the biggest problem for me is the fact he don't understand 'old town road' is every kids anthem. Children love him for that record. They tuned in and subscribed to his channels. So with no disclaimer he just dropped some left field ish & all our kids seen it. Smh.”

“I literally sing about lean & adultery in old town road,” Lil Nas X responded. “U decided to let your child listen. Blame yourself.”

Nike has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against MSCHF over the “Satan Shoes,” NBC News reports.

While Lil Nas X was not named as a defendant, the lawsuit argues that Nike must remain in control of its brand and how its iconic “swoosh” logo is used. "In fact, there is already evidence of significant confusion and dilution occurring in the marketplace, including calls to boycott Nike in response to the launch of MSCHF's Satan Shoes based on the mistaken belief that Nike has authorized or approved this product," the lawsuit states.

"We don't have any further details to share on pending legal matters," Nike said in a statement. "However, we can tell you we do not have a relationship with Lil Nas X or MSCHF."
