"I’m here to celebrate tonight Beyoncé’s birthday," Ross said after Bey ran to embrace her in a hug. With Bey's arms wrapped around her, the Motown legend commanded the crowd to hold their flashlights from their phones high in the air and join her to sing "Happy Birthday" to Beyoncé.

Jumping up and down with glee and on the brink of tears, Bey said "Thank you so much. You are so amazing. This is the legendary Diana Ross." Continuing her praise, Bey added "there would be no me without you and thank you so much for all of your sacrifice and your beauty and your grace. Thank you for opening doors for me. Thank you so much.”

Back in 2006, Beyoncé played Deena Jones in the musical Dreamgirls which was based off of Diana's time with The Supremes.

Ross replied saying she was simply returning the favor since Bey sang for her 75th birthday. “You sang 'Happy Birthday' to me so I wanted to sing it to you."
