February 21: Leda Young

Ms. Leda Young is a product of Greenville County Schools, having graduated from Southside High School. Ms. Young has experience with students in the public school system where she effectively served as a special education teacher, assistant principal, and principal for 25 years, following in her parents’ footsteps when she chose education as her passion.

She continues to expand upon these experiences in her current role as the Executive Director of Pleasant Valley Connections in District 25 (a non-profit, which brings together community residents, families, churches, businesses and other resourceful organizations which help serve the greater Pleasant Valley Community.)Ms. Young and her team effectively manage an After School Program and Summer Program for Youth and Teens.

As an educator and civic-minded community member, she believes that Building a Better Graduate is a collaborative effort between communities and schools. Through her leadership, Pleasant Valley Connections will continue fulfilling its mission of providing educational support, structured activities, and other assistance.

Ms. Young is an active member of Epsilon Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, where she is able to further expand upon her service to the community. Ms. Young is a proud graduate of Bennett College, Converse College and Furman University where she earned respective degrees in business administration, teaching, and educational leadership. Leda Young goes above and beyond to better the lives of the youth and others.
