Entrepreneur from Spartanburg, SC

Jasmine Gilliam
Audacy

Jasmine Gilliam, the creator of Blk + Healthy, was born and raised in Spartanburg, SC. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Art in Interior Design and a minor in Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art and Design. Jasmine believes one should be the change they want in their community.

In 2018, Jasmine created her brand, Wonderfully M’de, an apparel line and cultural curating brand that celebrates the beauty and culture of Black women.  Later, in 2021, she created a health initiative under the umbrella of Wonderfully M’de called Blk + Healthy (Black and Healthy).  Blk + Healthy is a Health and Wellness Expo of majority Black-owned businesses, organizations, and occupations within the Health & Wellness of the Upstate.

Although her education is in Interior Design, Jasmine later realized that health, wellness, and serving the community, aligned with her purpose.  She enjoys collaborating with other community advocates and is a member of National Hookup of Black Women Inc. - Spartanburg Chapter.  The organization serves women and their families and raises awareness to domestic violence and teen advocacy.

Jasmine gained the opportunity to become a part of PAL: Play, Advocate, and Live Well while creating a space for herself.  She is the Coalition and Food System Coordinator, and works toward food security for Spartanburg County.

Jasmine considers it a blessing to have her organization provide health and wellness resources for the black community and align her day-to-day work to advocate for preventative health!

Black History on The Block is made possible by Absolute Total Care and Elite Medical Center in Lyman.
