William Maurice Sullivan has been happily married to Dr. Rochelle Moore Sullivan for over ten years. They are the proud parents of one son, Weston Miles Sullivan.
William Maurice is a 1998 graduate of James F. Byrnes High School. During high school he played football all four years and maintains a top performer school record for longest fumble recovery for a touchdown. He also ran track (and lettered each year), which ultimately led to him being able to run track overseas in Amsterdam, Belgium and Brussels.
William Maurice is a 2003 graduate of Clark Atlanta University (CAU), where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While at CAU, he interned with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) with the Medical Examiner’s Office. Thereafter, he continued on to Gupton-Jones School of Mortuary Science where he obtained an Associate of Science degree in Mortuary Science.
Currently, William Maurice is the third generation, owner/manager, funeral director and embalmer at Sullivan Bros. Mortuary, Inc. in Greer, South Carolina. He is currently one of only a few, third-generation and dually licensed in the state of South Carolina. William Maurice was also selected by the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) for the inaugural class of funeral directors/embalmers under age 40 that was held at Harvard University.
William Maurice was fortunate to have fond memories in his younger years of shadowing his late grandfather, Rev. Warren H. Sullivan, Sr. as well as several, second-to-none years working alongside his late father, Warren H. Sullivan, Jr. He’s eternally grateful for their guidance and is honored to carry on their vision and pave a path for future generations.
William Maurice values the motto, “If you look at your obstacles, you’re taking your eyes off your goals”. He grounds himself by living by his favorite scripture, Philippians 4:5-6, “Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”
William Maurice enjoys the profession and especially enjoys every opportunity to participate in community outreach activities. Sullivan Bros. Mortuary has a long-standing Yellow Rose Aftercare Program that focuses on educating the community on the importance of funeral/cremation pre-planning, having life insurance and having a will.
William Maurice is a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church. He is also an active member of Prince Hall Mason Stewart Lee Lodge #367. During his spare time, he volunteers as a Mentor at James F. Byrnes High School and participates in many career days at various schools in the Upstate. He also umpires and referees for various youth sports and the Special Olympics. William Maurice is an active partner with the Adopt-A-Highway Program. He also enjoys traveling, playing golf and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Lakers.
