ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - TIME Magazine came up with a list of the 100 "World's Greatest Places of 2021" and among them is St. Louis.

The list labeled St. Louis "a reinvigorated downtown" mentioning the new City Foundry, coming Major League Soccer stadium and team, new restaurants, hotels and Laclede's Landing among other spots near downtown.

"Known as the Gateway City, St. Louis boasts a number of noteworthy happenings in 2021, just in time for Missouri’s bicentennial," the magazine writes.

The list was compiled based on nominations by TIME's network of international correspondents and contributors. It includes a Portuguese town now home to the world’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge and features the entire continent of Antarctica because it will experience a rare total solar eclipse this year.

Other US areas that made the list include: Big Sky, Montana; Denver; Houston; Indianapolis; Islands of Hawaii; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Memphis; New Orleans; New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, West Virginia; New York City; Orlando; Philadelphia; Savannah, Georgia; Seattle and Talkeetna, Alaska.
