On the new Billboard Pop Shop Podcast, Katie & Keith are joined by Pop Shop founder Jason Lipshutz to break down the top four category nominations and more for the 2023 GRAMMYs.

After starting things off with the chart chat, breaking down all the stats from the Drake and 21 Savage collab Her Loss to Taylor Swift’s Midnights, both of which that have made their way to the top of the charts.

Katie and Keith got into the -- at the time of this recording -- freshly released GRAMMY nominations. Joined by Jason Lipshutz, the trio shared their hot takes and immediate thoughts.

This year, the artists with the most nominations include Beyoncé with nine, followed by Kendrick Lamar with eight, then Adele and Brandi Carlile tied with seven each.

Beyonce’s latest addition of nods brings her overall total to 88. Tying her for the top spot, alongside her husband JAY-Z, who received five noms this year, for artist the most GRAMMY nominations in history. Officially surpassing, Paul McCartney with his overall total of 81 nominations, and Quincy Jones with 80.

Running through Record, Album, and Song of the Year before getting to Best New Artist, Katie, Keith and Jason held nothing back, quips, praises and all. After jesting about their “surprise” for the amount of ABBA noms, and calling Bad Bunny’s Album of the Year nod “historic. Paul brought up his concerns with Beyoncé’s RENAISSANCE and Adele’s 30 being up against each other for Album of the Year.

“I’m really not looking for another Adele versus Beyoncé situation,” Paul expressed. “Like what if Adele wins for this album that was more tepidly received than the last album the won did win Album of the Year. And then Beyoncé’s again sitting there in the front row with an album that was warmly received, a commercial success with hit singles…”
