Walmart expands online cooking channel with Sofia Vergara and Patti LaBelle

For anyone looking to up their dinner party game in 2021, Walmart has you covered.

The retail giant just added all new videos and shows to their interactive streaming service “Walmart Cookshop” featuring famous celebrities discussing all things dining related, and it’s entirely free.

People can head to the entertainment platform to see familiar faces like British chef Jamie Oliver and “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara from the comfort of their own kitchens.

Each video explores a different dining concept, from setting a table for a dinner party with “The Pioneer Woman” Ree Drummond, to making chicken and biscuits with Patti LaBelle, Fox News reported.

“Walmart Cookshop,” which first launched in 2018, now includes nearly 40 free cooking videos with 22 new episodes through a partnership with media company Eko, according to Eat This, Not That! The purpose is to engage customers "in a new and more meaningful way," the outlet reported.

Some of the content allows viewers to stay engaged by allowing them to choose which ingredients they prefer to use and what type of ambiance they’re envisioning for an upcoming cocktail party. Show host Sofia Vergara asks the viewer to click the screen and choose if they would like to see her bake a dulce de leche dessert, or a rich chocolate cake.

Customers can then buy the ingredients used in each cooking segment by clicking the “shop featured recipe” link that accompanies each video.

Walmart has recently celebrated 3,000 stores offering grocery delivery, giving rival retail giant and grocery delivery service Amazon direct competition.
