Talk about a backhanded compliment.

When previewing Saturday’s playoff bout between the Giants and Eagles, Big Blue legend Michael Strahan talked about how much he enjoyed playing in Philadelphia as a visitor, before saying Philly fans are the “meanest people.”

“I loved playing in Philly,” Strahan said on FOX. “They're by far the meanest city, the meanest fans, the meanest people. But it was motivating.”

The Philadelphia fanbase has been a major talking point leading in to the rivalry matchup at the Linc, with a spot in the NFC title game on the line. Strahan had plenty of history in the storied rivalry, playing all 216 of his career games for the Giants from 1993 to 2007. He was there when the Eagles beat New York in the Wild Card round in 2007, and when they beat Philly in 2001 to advance to the NFC championship, where these Giants are hoping to reach on Saturday.
