Ruskin High School
"Ruskin HS is the school my children attended and honestly all the schools in the Hickman Mills school district could use help but I am nominating Ruskin. I chose Ruskin because all the rooms in the school are old and cold in winter and very hot in summer. There is no community support of the schools or sports so you can imagine no support to upgrade or do any thing positive to increase the over all comfort in the school. It is a nice school that has a bad reputation. I assume its more a school board fail that the schools in the district are falling apart and a few years back they did a over all transformation of the schools so to close those beyond repairs. So that is my take on the schools and thank you for your consideration." - Deanne Jackson
"Please consider Ruskin High School for the Help My MOKAN School grant. We would like to use the grant money for a new football/soccer scoreboard. Fortunately, Ruskin High is beginning to see positive improvements to the school campus as a result of an approved 2020 Bond campaign. The new turf football field will soon be completed. It replaces a field that was over 13 years old and in a poor state of disrepair. Unfortunately, a new scoreboard is not in the plans to be upgraded at this time. This is a true need for us as our current scoreboard was installed in the 90’s. It does not function properly. In fact, there have been times during past football and soccer games where the clock has gone blank and literally stopped working. This required a stoppage of play and a total reset to get the clock restored to continue the contests. Our athletic director has made calls to the manufacturer to seek solutions, but has been told there are no longer parts that exist for that scoreboard model and that it is not supported by the manufacturer anymore. In conclusion, a new football/soccer scoreboard will cap off a great stadium improvement project. We would be greatly honored to receive the Help My MOKAN School Grant to obtain this much needed scoreboard." - William Perkins, Head Football Coach & Assistant Athletic Director
