(610 Sports) – When it comes to fanbases in the NFL, Kansas City and Buffalo are among the best there are. Chiefs' Kingdom and Bills' Mafia, as the two fanbases are more affectionately known, provide the sort of home-field advantage that opposing players describe as intimidating and hostile.
One such player is NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver and Buffalo Bills' great, Andre Reed, who believes the two fanbases are mirror images of one another.
Joining 610 Sports' 'The Drive,' on Thursday, Reed recalled his days of coming into Arrowhead and experiencing the Chiefs' faithful, first-hand.
"I've always said this about the Chiefs-Bills rivalry, if you wanna call it that, going to Kansas City was just like playing in Buffalo when they came to us," said Reed. "Ruckus crowds, loud, really passionate about their team, Kansas City fans are like that and obviously the Bills' fans are a good traveling fanbase."
Reed played 15 seasons in Buffalo and was a member of the 1994 Bills team that beat the Chiefs 30-13 in the AFC Championship, the second of three meetings between the two franchises in a conference championship game. If anyone knows what Bills' fans are capable of, it's Reed.
"The Bills' Mafia has been instrumental in a lot of things with that team, in that city, and wherever they go, they kinda take over the opposing city," Reed continued. "I don't know if they ever do tat, but they do show up in droves. It's great to see that they have that kind of fanbase when the team travels to another city."
The atmosphere at Arrowhead on Sunday should be electric with both great fanbases in attendance. Enjoy the BBQ and tailgating but most importantly, let's keep the violence on the football field and take any frustrations out on the folding tables.
