(610 Sports) – The Chiefs revamped offense looked a lot like the "old" offense in getting off to a quick start in their week 1 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals.
Already looking like a well-oiled machine, the Chiefs offense drove 75 yards on 12 plays during their opening drive. Patrick Mahomes connected with three different receivers on the drive, highlighted by a 9-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes to tight end Travis Kelce.
Possibly the most impressive part of the opening drive, was running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire collecting 34 yards on 5 carries. Edwards-Helaire looked to be running with purpose and elusiveness. In a critical year for the third-year back, it's important for Edwards-Helaire to establish himself early as the bell cow back, if he wants to stay in KC beyond his rookie deal.
Rookie RB Isiah Pacheco, a seventh-round draft pick, looked good in training camp and the preseason, prompting calls from Chiefs fans to see more of the former Rutgers Scarlet Knight.
