Chiefs LB Nick Bolton explains what it's like to call defensive plays as a rookie

Bolton's had the green dot on multiple days of camp so far.

He hasn't played in an actual NFL game yet, but Chiefs rookie linebacker Nick Bolton is already turning heads. Bolton, who Kansas City drafted in the second round of this year's draft, has already made more than a few highlight reel plays.

He's also -- perhaps more importantly -- worn the green dot, the signal for a defensive play-caller, on more than one occasion already. Talking with Cody and Gold after Tuesday morning's practice, Bolton explained what it's like to be a rookie who's already being asked to be a leader and organize the defense.

"You get a lot of mental reps on the sideline," he said. "You get the calls, get the execution from the sideline. Everybody else is going in, so it kind of helps the game slow down for you. Hearing the verbiage, and what's expected out there ... it's been a blessing having that. It's been a learning experience, and I just have to keep going forward."
