Teams across the NFL are struggling to contain the latest round of COVID outbreaks, and it seems like the Chiefs may be one of them. During Andy Reid's media availability on Tuesday, Reid announced that the team is placing defensive lineman Chris Jones on the reserve/COVID list:
The team is still working through the preliminary testing protocols, so it's too soon to know whether Jones will be available for Thursday night's game against the L.A. Chargers. According to the NFL's COVID testing protocol, "if a player with no known history of COVID-19 infection (as proved by a documented test) receives a new positive test result and is asymptomatic, then two types of confirmatory tests will be run on the day following the positive test result." While the player has to isolate and remain away from the facility until the results of those tests come back, if both are negative, the player is free to return. For that reason, Jones hasn't been ruled out yet.
