Chiefs QB coach Mike Kafka reportedly leaving for Giants OC job

(610 Sports) – The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly losing one of their top offensive assistants. Chiefs quarterbacks coach Mike Kafka is expected to be named the new offensive coordinator for the New York Giants, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Kafka, who has spent the past five seasons with the Chiefs, began as an offensive quality control coach and most recently served as the Kansas City Chiefs’ passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach on head coach Andy Reid's staff.

Patrick Mahomes has praised his QB coach on many occasions:

“He came in at the same time as I came into this locker room. Even before he came in as quarterbacks coach, he already had a big imprint on what I did in developing me to be the player that I am. He continues that. He stays on me.” – Patrick Mahomes on Mike Kafka via Chicago Sun Times.

With the hire of Brian Daboll as head coach and Mike Kafka as the team's offensive coordinator, the Giants are sitting up incumbent starting QB Daniel Jones with a coaching staff that possesses a track record of success in developing young quarterbacks.
