(610 Sports) – The Chiefs selected Western Michigan wide receiver Skyy Moore with the No. 54 overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft on Friday evening.
Moore was named a first-team All-Mid American Conference wide receiver as a true freshman in 2019 with 51 receptions for 802 yards and 3 TDs.
In a pandemic shortened sophomore 2020 season, Moore was named to the All-MAC second-team after scoring 3 TDs in just 5 games. Moore really burst onto the scene in 2021, hauling in 95 catches for 1,292 yards and 10 scores in 12 appearances, once again being named first-team all conference.
In adding Moore, the Chiefs look to fill the void left when Tyreek Hill was dealt to the Miami Dolphins. Like Hill, Moore has exceptional burst off of the line and is consistently capable of beating press coverage. Moore has precision footwork and is capable of running a full route tree with a high, which he displayed during his time at Western Michigan.
Moore should fit in nicely with Andy Reid's offense and Patrick Mahomes under center. He is a team-first guy that will do the dirty work and he's a willing blocker that is more effective in blocking than his size would suggest.
Like the aforementioned Hill, Moore is very good at working his way back to the ball, something that will be invaluable when working with Mahomes.
Moore offers tremendous upside as a receiver and landed in the perfect fit with Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
