While safety Tyrann Mathieu was only in Kansas City for three seasons, few people had a more impactful presence with the Chiefs than he did. An unrestricted free agent this season, the writing was on the for Mathieu when the Chiefs signed former Texans safety Justin Reid to a three-year contract on Monday night. When news of Reid's signing broke, Chiefs Twitter was quick to heap praise on Mathieu and what he did for the Chiefs' defense:
Everyone in #ChiefsKingdom is forever grateful for your contributions to our SB 54 Championship @Mathieu_Era ! Thank you for everything, you’ll forever have a special place in our hearts! Nothing but love and well wishes to you and your family moving forward🙏! pic.twitter.com/VJU8j9Qyiv

I’m not here for all this Tyrann Mathieu disrespect, he’s still a Chiefs legend no matter what happens in Free Agency.

Probably signals the end to what was a really good run for Tyrann Mathieu in Kansas City. A rare case where a team gets exactly what they paid for in free agency.
